So, I was studying Carbons and I heard Kevin’s voice and GLR company outside my door. I was wondering what they were doing outside since I live in the furthest dorm away from them. After I opened the door, they asked me if I wanted to go to a friend’s apartment to bake cookies.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t take up the offer because I had a lot of work—mainly left over because I woke up late and then volunteered at an animal shelter for the afternoon.
But I was really, really, really happy that they thought of me. :) The event was apparently publicized on Facebook (which I don’t have), and they still came by to see me.

Look at that Vermeer on the wall! :D
I’ve been so busy that I almost forgot about my pending birthday. My mom had to remind me.
These were the first macarons I had ever eaten in my life.

I have always felt that the spring semester feels the busiest—my classmates start going to sports competitions, harder classes build up on the fall semester, and big projects are due. I feel like warmer weather tends to increase everyone’s energy…though that was meant to be more metaphorical. It has been FREEZING these past couple days, and I had to bike in the rain to so many classes.
But in any case, spring season means that the Kogakuin exchange students come over in February again. Remember Sunao, Mika, and Yuki? The class of students a year under them are coming over for the same program they did. I’m going to be pretty excited to meet them at the end of February and get to know them through March.
So why do I talk about March in particular? Last year’s March was an emotionally-laden time period. I had a lot of great things happen to me, but many of those great things ended up going down hill a few months down the road. I think it feels weird living another year—it’s like I’m rewriting my history with everyday that passes, and I often find myself thinking, “What did I do last year on this day?” It’s not too good to think about the past, though, so I’m really trying to let everything go.
Well, technically a “New Year” has started (Chinese New Year, represent), so I hope everything gets better again. I had a couple slips over the weekend, but now that I think of it, that was before the New Year, so I can still make it up :)
Anyways, the purpose of this post was to share what my Kogakuin Exchange employer wrote me in an email:
“They are going to be living in the DoubleTree again, but hopefully not living it up quite as much as last year.”
HAHA. I remember -those- memories. Last year’s GLR seniors were a crazy, sweet bunch who decided throwing an “International Relations” party would be the best idea to bond with the exchange students. I will not go into the details of what happened, but I can tell you that I was the only sober person in the room that night.
I also remember Kenny saying to me before my bittersweet spring break last year:
We end up hurting each other no matter what we do. There are certain things we do that just hurt people.
Soooooooo, yea. I just wanted to lay some thoughts out on the table and get them off my chest.
